Parent Cooperative
At Castlewood Community Preschool & Kindergarten, we believe that children thrive when families and teachers work together. As a parent cooperative serving families in Franktown, Castle Rock, Parker & Elizabeth, we invite parents to be active participants in their child’s educational journey — from the early preschool years through kindergarten.
Why We Choose to Be a Cooperative School
We believe that partnership with parents is one of the most important factors in a child’s success — in preschool, kindergarten, and beyond. When parents are connected to the classroom, children feel it. When parents are invested, children are proud. And yes — it’s also a lot of fun!
By volunteering in the classroom, families experience firsthand:
Our play-based learning approach
The creativity and care of our teachers
The rhythm of a typical school day
The friendships and collaboration happening in real time
Your Role as a Helping Parent
Parents volunteer in the classroom approximately 4–8 times per year, depending on class schedule. Parents are requested to stay from approximately 9am-11:00am. This experience gives parents a unique window into their child’s growth — socially, emotionally, and academically.
During your Helping Parent day, you will:
Assist teachers with classroom activities
Support play-based learning experiences
Provide snack for the class
Help with light classroom clean-up
Engage with students during the morning session
A Unique Model in Our Community
Castlewood Community Preschool was the first parent-cooperative preschool in Douglas County, and we are proud to continue that tradition today — now offering both Preschool and Kindergarten programs within our cooperative model.
Our approach creates a close-knit, supportive community where families know one another, teachers feel supported, and children feel secure and valued.
